Healthy bleeding gums when brushing HELP

Hello there.. im a 22 year old male from the UK.

I have been blessed with perfect white teeth, I have never had a problem with them, never had a filling.

But this year & a lot lately, I recently had a check up at at the Dentist & he said I have one of the most healthiest set of teeth & gums he's seen. but yet still when I brush they bleed, im always spitting blood when brushing. I am not over brushing or doing it too aggressive & im using mouthwash.

    Any ideas

Usually, bleeding gums need to be treated as they could be inflamed. Make sure your toothbrush is a "soft" one as other bristles are too harsh.

No because I said ive had them checked & their healthy, not inflamed. I make sure not to be rough when brushing, im basically doing everything I can do keep them at best. Yet every time they seem to brush just underneath the teeth

Re: Healthy bleeding gums when brushing HELP

The usual explanation for gums that bleed easily is that bacteria living on the gum line have irritated the gums. That's more common if you have not brushed them for a long while and tends to settle down when regular brushing removes the problem bacteria. In more extreme cases cleaning at the dentist may be required.

That is, however, completely inconsistent with your dentist saying your gums are the healthiest he has seen.

My own experience is that normal brushing does not cause noticable bleeding and it all seems rather strange. I can see that mechanical damage due to hard or sharp bristles could be a factor but I have never experienced it myself. Does the bleeding occur just at one place or all along the gum line?

It is probably worth raising this with your dentist.

Could also be dehydration, anemia etc. however cancer may also explain this, have you had any other odd symptoms?

Healthy gums do not bleed on brushing. I suggest you go back to the dentist and get him/her to demonstrate flossing. This removes plaque and debris from between the teeth which brushing alone will not do.
