Question What are the chances I could pass my depression on to my (hypothetical) children?

What are the chances that I could pass my depression on to my (hypothetical) children? Would I have to go off my antidepressants (bupropion) if I became pregnant? And if so, is there any kind of antidepressant that pregnant women can use?

I was diagnosed with depression after a specific event in my life. That event is over, but I'm still on antidepressants. Not sure if that makes a difference genetically. As far as I know, it doesn't run in my family. I'm also worried about postpartum.

I'm curious to hear from women with depression who have had kids. What have your experiences been?

Would also be interested in the opinions of any medical professionals here.

There are no medical professionals here, but to answer your first question, you need to talk to your prescribing doctor about the risks of being on antidepressents prior to getting pregnant.

Depression is not usually hereditary, but it depends on what type of depression you are dealing with.. addiction can be hereditary- as can different psychological illnesses.

Talk to your doctor, thats your best bet.
