    Question Melatonin Assists Benzodiazepine Discontinuation

There was a study conducted with 30 patients who were taking melatonin and 24 managed to come off benzodiazepines. After 6 months of melatonin therapy 19 of the 24 patients were benzodiazepine free and 5 had resumed taking benzodiazepines.

I found this in a recent book for psychiatrists and other doctors on psychotropic medication. I found it interesting because I cannot get off benzos as I have anxiety constantly. However, no pdoc can recommend anything equal or better, as benzos bind to those gaba receptors so well.

I am surprised to find this. Why does nobody know about this?

Has anyone tried melatonin for sleep?

Can you tell me where I can access the particulars of this study? The protocol used with the Melatonin, etc. Did you access this on the net? Though I committed to slow tapering off my benzos, you have curiosity. I tend to think that benzo recovery is a field needing much more exploration.
