I am currently on 40 mg. of Celexa which I take in the morning, as well as 5 mg. of BuSpar 3 times daily. I attend therapy once weekly and I have deepend my practice in Zen Buddhism. This combination has helped me a great deal! I also have OCD, Depression and possibly Borderline Personality Disorder.

According to http://www.palace.net/~llama/psych/bpd.html, Borderline Personality Disorder is characterized by the following:

*Affect*
chronic/major depression
helplessness
hopelessness
worthlessness
guilt
anger (including frequent expressions of anger)
anxiety
loneliness
boredom
emptiness
*Cognition*
odd thinking
unusual perceptions
nondelusional paranoia
quasipsychosis
*Impulse action patterns*
substance abuse/dependence
sexual deviance
manipulative suicide gestures
other impulsive behaviors
*Interpersonal relationships*
intolerance of aloneness
abandonment, engulfment, annihilation fears
counterdependency
stormy relationships
manipulativeness
dependency
devaluation
masochism/sadism
demandingness
entitlement

Buspar's Side Effects Include the Following:

Headache
Chest pain
Light headedness
Nervousness
Ringing in ears
Sore throat
Dream disturbances
Dizziness
Nasal congestion
Nausea
Confusion
Depression
Diarrhea
Insomnia
Movement disorders
Numbness
Racing heartbeat / palpitations
Tachycardia
Restlessness
Rigidity
Tremors
Chest Pain

BuSpar is a NON-sedating anxiolytic (meaning an anti-anxiety drug.) Unlike most anxiolytic's it posses a mild STIMULANT effect and effectivly acts as a sleep INHIBITOR. Stimulants seem to make Anxiety worse in people and sometimes are actually a cause. BuSpar is an atypical stimulant for this reason, and seems to promote wakefulness and excitment without causing anxiety. BuSpar causes robust increases in concentrations of Dopamine and Norepinephrine, and acts as an agonist at 5HT1 recptors. 5HT1, acts as an antianxiety receptor and stimulation of this recepter increases confidence and comfort levels. Headaches and muscle tension are often improved by BuSpar. All other 5HT receptors are actually blocked and not allowed to fire from BuSpar. 5ht2, 5ht3, ect all cause and increase anxeity, therefore by blocking them anxiety is effeciently releived. For this reason, BuSpar is often prescribed to pateint's who have a combination of A.D.D. and Anxiety, where treatment with traditional stimulants would be innapropriate and likely make the previously existing condition worse. The generic form of BuSpar is called "Buspirone". Traditional dosing starts at 5 mg. every three hours, and is increased if needed, according to individual results.

Hope this helps. :
