    Zoloft taken off market?

Someone on the panic disorder board said that Zoloft was taken off the market in Canada? Does anyone know if that's true? If it is, i'm wondering why, because i'm taking it.

I think that person might have just meant that it went to generic but i'm not sure.

Anyway, how does Zoloft work for you? Ive been taking it for a little over a week and today i was just about to give up on it and all meds for that matter. But i took my last dose and my mood changed dramatically. Actually i couldnt stop laughing like an idiot by i didnt care. Atleast i felt some joy. I'm just confused as to whether this stuff really helps or not. I have panic disorder as well as depression. I'm using it because i have nothing to lose. I can barely get out of bed anyway so i might as well try it. I know it's not a cure and no one knows exactly how antidepressants work but i could care less at this point.

Is this medication helping you function?

It's good that you are sticking with zoloft. Your mood will continue to change as your body adjust to it. I am currently going through a dosage increase after 10 years due to a job resignation and my moods seem to change often. My understanding is that this will continue to occur until your brain gets use to it. I started my 3rd week today. I felt ok this morning, took the medicine and started to have some anxiety. I am feeling better this evening. It does work.

Let's keep each other posted as we progress.

Il definately keep you posted. Iv'e only been on the medication a week and 3 days so im gonna give it some time. It jus feels like so much longer cuz of the depression. Plus the dosage is high. It's jus so weird cuz of the mood swings. thanks for the response.

Cool. I will assist each other as we progress.

You are right, it is so hard to stay positive while waiting for the moods to finally stabilize.

Do you have problems sleeping with Zoloft? My doctor prescibed Restoril as a sleeping medicine. Of course, I had to deal with its side effects too, one of which could be depression and anxiety (an oximoron). But it beats the heck out of not sleep well.

People taking non-depressant medicine have to deal with side effects too.

Hope to hear from you again soon,
    Zoloftman

I do have insomnia. The problem is, is that i think i have an addiction problem. My psychiatrist is prescribing me Xanax and Ambien for the sleep and anxiety but i'm afraid to take it. About 5 years ago I was seriously bed riddin with depression and anxiety. I was almost like catotonic it was so bad. My body was in shock. The doctor then prescibed me Paxil and it caused insomnia but the depression lifted so much that i didnt care if I couldnt sleep. I just wanted my happy pill.

I told the doctor i was feeling better but i couldnt sleep. He prescribed me Xanax and insisted i give it a try. I was so ignorant about the medication. I had no idea how physiologically addicting it was. I started taking one too many pills and it was getting out of control. The Paxil was no longer effective and it got so bad i eventually needed to be detoxed and my psychiatrist wouldnt except me as a patient anymore. My doctor now has no idea about that incident so he prescribes the Xanax and i get it filled but i never touch it although i'm much more educated and mature now about Xanax and similar drugs then i was five years ago.

Actually i realized now, i have so much Xanax and Klonopin i could probably kill a sea of whales with it. Anyway, i do have insomnia but il trade sleep for happiness any time. I'm just waiting for the Zoloft to kick in more and for my mood to be more stable. I realize that medication is the only hope for me. Ive tried years of therapy, exercising, job changes, girl friend changes and everything else. Nothing helped me like Paxil did 5 years ago and i screwed it up. If Zoloft helps me now, you can be sure I wont screw it up this time.

Hope to talk to you soon
