Post Seroxat

Anyone know about it/taken it? I've never heard of it, but my therapist/doctor has prescribed me it. Apparantly it's similiar to Celexa.

Thanks for the reply I didn't catch the tv programme, probably a good thing as it would've scared me more than I already am about taking meds I'm not keen on taking this drug anymore, I've been putting off starting it until I'd talked to my therapist more about it, so I'm going to talk to him about changing it to something less 'controversial'. I don't want more anxiety over something that is supposedly going to help me! If you know what I mean. It's so confusing when the meds have different names in different countries, I'd never heard of Seroxat but I'd heard alot about its US name Paxil, even know some american people on it. The med I've heard the best success rates with is Celexa, not sure if that has the same name here in the UK, I'll ask about that too when I see my therapist next. Thanks for the info

I was on Paxil a little over 2yrs. I switched meds beause I felt at the time that Paxil wasn't really helping me. I really didn't notice any bad side effects when I quit taking it. A gal I know also took Paxil. When she weaned off it she said it was like the worst case of PMS that she'd ever had. She was a total coming off of it. I was a total __ when I was on it.

Another aquaintence(sp?) of mine swears by Paxil. She said it's been the best one for her.

I guess it depends on the individual.

I talked with my therapist this afternoon, and he had no problem with me wanting a different med, he said it was only natural that I was uncomfy with it after the tv program aired, coupled with my initial fear of meds. So he's changing my prescription, I'll find out what it's changed to next week. He mentioned it could possibly be effexor, or something similiar. Thank you for your input.
