Dakota skye?

Does it really take that long for zyprexa to start working? I did pretty good yesterday, then at night I started getting that erry dread feeling and then some thoughts. Did not do it bad at all during the day. Today i havent had to bad a thoughts but have had that erry dread feeling more. Is it a gradual build up with the med. I have a preety good day, then I get some thoughts and dread feelings that always makes me think that the med. is causing it. The reason i blame the med is because it doesnt feel the same or it isn't the same exact thoughts i was having off the med. The doc says it is not the med.

Re: Dakota skye?

I take 20mg of Zyprexa daily. It seemed to wrk pretty quickly when I started. I need a med adjusment but it has been 9 months so I guess that is to be expected. Hope it works for you

How quickly did it start to work. I have only taken it for six days.

was it gradual, or did it just work overnight.

Re: Dakota skye?

it was pretty gradual but once it really started it took off very quickly.
I think it was around the two week mark where 90% of the thoughts were eliminated

I feel better and the thoughts are less, but they seem to kick back in and they are different than before. The erry feeling i get is different. Doc says the med is not causing the thoughts. I am only taking 5 mg. And it has only been 6 days. I get the off the wall thoughts. That is why the doc says it is ocd. Then i get a depression once the thoughts start rolling. I just blame the med because it feels different if that makes sense to you. Did the feelings and thoughts seem different while it was trying to kick in? Thanks

Re: Dakota skye?

I really do not rememberb it very well. I started Zyprexa around the time I had the ECT treatments so everything is foggy around that period of my life. My thoughts now both depression and self injury related are very vivid and come out of nowhere.

Re: Dakota skye?

dear boiler,

it may take up to six weeks before someone starts to feel the FULL effect of the drug. notice i said it may take, not it does take. it depends on your body chemistry and how it processes the medication. also, you've already noticed some improvement, however, as you've said, you're still having some problems with "eerie" feelings and thoughts. i think this means that the drug hasn't reached its full therapeutic effect yet. also, you may not be on the optimal dosage yet. you've started at the minimum dose --5mg. your doctor may increase this dosage if things don't improve with time. it can go up to 30 mg. a day. and your doc is correct...i don't believe the medication is making you think any strange thoughts, do strange things...your body's still adjusting to it.... try to relax and go along with it. give it time, and don't be so vigilant as to what it may do, as long as it isn't something very, very bad (although at this dosage i hardly think something that bad will happen), in which case immediately contact your physician. in any case, if you don't feel comfortable and do not notice more improvement in the next 5-7 days, give your doc a call and tell him/her about it...

i really hope i've helped answer your question at least a little bit.

I go back to work tomor. I was wondering if you think the doc knows what she is doing. I still get the mood swing right now. Today the thoughts havent been as bad. But i have had some. Do you think this med will begin to stop these thoughts and i get an ideation or 2 sometimes. But the urges seem to be better. I still just get scared that the med is causing the feelings and thoughts. I guess because it seems like they are different.

Re: Dakota skye?

This could just be me but my thoughts have not completly subsided but they have reduced substantially. I hope for your sake that they completly disappear. Good luck at work tomorrow

Re: Dakota skye?

hi boiler,

i honestly believe that the medication Is Not causing those thoughts and feelings that you are experiencing. the medication is made so that it will Stop them!!!

like trg said, it has helped him to "reduce [them] substantially"--that means, a lot!!!!

like i said before, you've only been taking them for 7-8 days now. boiler, that's not enough time for them to get into your system completely. please give them some more time. they will do their job, really! please be a bit more patient, and you may see great improvement.

keep me / us posted!!!!!!

hoping you'll have a wonderful day tomorrow!!!!
