    Wellbutrin plus another AD

Is anyone taking Wellbutrin AND another AD to treat their depression? My husband currently takes 300 mg Wellbutrin but, due to some difficult life events, it has been recommended he add something else as well.

Psychiatrist prescribed seroquel - it was awful! Husband couldn't function - he slept all the time. Neither of us think it was the right one....I don't think an anti-psychotic med is the proper one.

Our appt is tomorrow and I'd like to be prepared. I've done some research and am wondering about Cymbalta, Zoloft or Effexor.

Can anyone share their knowledge or experience? Thank you so very much!

I currently take Wellbutrin, Effexor, Remeron, Lithium and Temazapam. They all get along pretty well. The Remeron is a pretty sedating med though. The Wellbutrin and Effexor do not seem to have any conflict with each other, both are stimulating, at least for me

    take care

I take Wellbutrin and Lexapro together. 300 mg of the Wellbutrin and 10mg of Lexapro and they work wonderfully together for me. Neither one works as well alone for me, as the combination does.

    Hope this helps!

I also take Wellbutrin XL and Lexapro; works great. I finally feel energy and don't fly off the handle as much. Cymbalta was just too scary... gave me 'brain zaps'... very strange feeling.

    Best of luck!

    Re: Wellbutrin plus another AD

    Hi All,

I have been taking Wellbutrin XL 450mg for about 18 months. I'm going through a few difficulties and the dr wants to add something and she believes I should try adding Cymbalta. I hear its the new Effexor(same class). I took Effexor and gained 60 lbs, which, we all know, makes one even more depressed. I am perimenopause (premenopausal) and many of the gals on the menopause boards are taking Lexapro and raving about it. I thought since I gained on Effexor, I'd most likely gain on Cymbalta. For those of you ladies who have tried both Lexapro & Cymbalta, did you gain on either and which
helped depression/anxiety better?? I have been taking ativan with the Wellbutrin for the last 2 months to help with anxiety & I know I can only take ativan short term. I do need something and I don't even think the Wellbutrin is doing the job alone. Thanks to you all, just for being here to help.

    Sharon
