Another reason to hit the gym....exercise stimulates the vagus nerve. free, non-invasive.....

I exercise ALL the time for my mind. When I'm exercising (I don't call it working out anymore - too controlling), I'm doing it to feel good physically and mentally. Have always done that. And for me? It REALLY works.

    Thanks for bringing that up.

I'm back into my regular swim routine. I notice the difference already. You know, I've never had a doc mention exercise to me.

    Re: VNS alternative.....exercise

I've been walking 4 miles mostly everyday since April and while I feel good when I do this I have to force myself most days. It makes me wonder why I have so much resistance towards something that benefits me. Anyone else have this problem?

Positivity, do you get tired easy or have problems with energy?

I've always been active, but after my crash I stopped everything and I'm having a little trouble getting going again because I have no energy. (My doctor says I'm dysthmic and undergoing a major depressive episode with anxiety.) Before that I exercised all the time.

    Re: VNS alternative.....exercise

I definitely have a problem with energy caused by depression. I'm so low right now I can't even shower or get out of the house, never mind going for a walk. Sometimes I can push myself that little bit, other times I just have to go with the flow....and try to be gentle with myself.
