    Feel like I'm living Groundhog day

    That movie is like my life. I feel like every day is the same. Like I am a robot on a schedule and not feeling anything. I see no point in life because nothing makes me happy. Not that I would ever kill myself but I just feel empty. I nearly had a panic attack when I thought about it and it became clear why I am an emotional eater. I am hiding my feelings of life. I feel empty, and bored. Like NOTHING makes me happy, NOBODY makes me happy. And I have had this feeling before sometimes it passes and goes. And I am hoping to god this is just a thing that will pass. I was about to have a breakdown just thinking "there is no point in life. Even if I WAS happy, I will eventually die so what is the point of trying in life?" I don't want to go on meds..not yet, I want that to be my LAST resort. See a few months ago I was at an all time low and gained 80 pounds very fast from binge eating after being anorexic and my metabolism slowed. It took me a year to finally pull myself up and START to attempt to change. I lost so far 25 pounds in 2 months. But today I binged and I think that triggered my depressive state. I feel like if I could manage to pull myself out of that depression I had months ago without meds, I can make it through this. But this feeling is overwhelming. Who wants to feel like life is just something to get through? Like they are a robot simply going through the motions and not enjoying anything? I need some advice. Is their ANYTHING I can do to help myself? I don't leave the house much at all either. I am just so lost. What can I do improve myself without seeing a doctor? Does meditation work?

    It is good that you have started moving in a positive direction. However, I would suggest seeing a therapist or specialist if you are not already. FIghting problems like that are so much easier when you have someone by your side.

    As for the Groundhog Day feeling, I know where you come from. There are times in my life where I feel the same way. The best thing to do is to get out and find something that energizes you and makes you happy. That means getting out and forcing yourself to do stuff, as hard as that can be. Again, I would suggest seeing a therapist. There is only so much that a human can do alone!

    But you sound like you are making progress. Just try to think positive, and talk about your feelings often.

    Winking, how did you get to where you are today. I think this is how to get your life back, by understanding what affected you and understanding what you are thinking and feeling in response to it.

    I too have experienced days like yours, but I am now getting my life back. Try this simple test. Think of something that you really want. Best to think of something small for now. Feel like you are holding it in your hand. You must really believe that you are going to receive this thing. Think about how it would make you feel if you had it. Keep this thought with you for a while, believing all the time.

    If something happens to you, like it did to me, after having and believing in this thought, send me an email back. It may not happen for a couple of days though!!

    This post really grabbed me because this is what I say every day. It's always like the same day - the same cycle - over and over and OVER again. I've had depression all my life and the current state of affairs of my personal life have me at a near breaking point emotionally. It’s a horrible, horrible way to live and I keep waiting…waiting…waiting for things to change; for me to feel better and to actually WANT to get up in the morning and actually LOOK FORWARD to things. Even when I try to be happy about something – to look forward to something – I immediately think, “Why bother? It will be over before I know it and it will be back to the SAME OLD CRAP.”

    There HAS to be more to life than what’s before me…but I don’t want medication to find it.
