How does a depressed person succeed as a salesman ?

I had been in sales for 10 years, a very bad one indeed. The main attribute to be a sales person is agressviness, how is that possible when depressed?
I am trying to get out of sales, but seems so hard to change fields because I have been in this for so long, so only way is to continue to be in sales and minimize the effects of depression on my job. Boy, let me tell you how tough that is. Along with depression comes low self esteem -- but a good salesman does should have too much confidence, not the other way.

Energy is another factor -- with no energy, I never was able to fight for customers' orders.

    What a drag.

In my opinion a lot of what you see is an act. The person basically is playing a role to obtain the sale. Obviously this is not the case for all of them but everyone has bad days/periods so they just put forward the best face possible.

    take care
