I Quit Prozac. Starting the WORT.. Any Advice?

I quit taking Prozac on Christmas eve. I had taken it for 6 months and was very tired of the side effects. Feeling Dizzy and kind of Drunk and Floating. Also, I dont think my depression was getting any better.... So, I want to begin taking St Johns Wort. I had a very good experience with SJW about 4 years ago.. I remeber feeling very good... My question?
If I have been off of Prozac for the past 15 days what will happen if I start taking SJW?
I have had some mild withdraws fro the prozac(Headaches, Irritable, slight anxiety).. If I start taking SJW now do you think I would have any problems. Also, I quit going to my shrink because all he is concerned about is writing scrips and billing me for 45 min sessions.. So NO I havent asked him his opinion.. Thanks Everyone Please respond if you have any input..

Re: I Quit Prozac. Starting the WORT.. Any Advice?

I went off Prozac about 7 months ago, and my depression returned like a ton of bricks around 2 months after...I was so depressed, I felt paralyzed! I too, was tired of checking in with my aloof, money-grubbing shrink. During my GYN annual, I discussed my depression with my dr., and she suggested trying Prozac again....she gave me a 1 year prescription!!! No more middleman for me!!! He was worthless anyways.

Anyways, 3 months into treatment, I was still feeling depressed. I started thinking maybe I was now immune to the Prozac, or that there was something seriously wrong with me like a disease or cancer. I had every blood test available done, and they found NOTHING!!!

Desperate, I turned to my vitamin books and read about all the vitamin deficiencies and their symptoms. I discovered that a lack of V B vitamins will cause depression, fatigue, unclear thinking, nervousness, etc. (A B deficiency will result from drinking coffee or alcohol). So I purchased a good B-complex, and within 2 weeks, I felt a dramatic difference! I feel like a new person. This inspired me to investigate about other vitamins and herbs.

I believe there's real healing power with natural remedies, and the overpaid Dr.s don't want to admit it for obvious reasons.

If you're commited to staying off Prozac, I suggest you start reading up on vitamins and herbs. Good luck to you!!

You might want to wait a couple of more weeks to be safe before beginning the St. John's(mild maoi properties). Get the Prozac withdrawals over with and start fresh. Hopefully the St. John's will do the job.
