Tips for keeping depression under control?

After almost 3 years of being on anti-depressant (generic Celexa), I have decided that it would be in my best interest to stop taking them and find other ways to cope. I think they're fine as a temporary help, but it doesn't really fix anything. At the end of the day nothing changes, it just masks the feelings. That was working for me for awhile, but I feel foggy. I'm a writer and I feel that it is clouding up my mind.

With this being said, I am VERY scared of how I will feel once I am completely off the meds. I remember the absolutely horrible feeling I had before I started using them and it is very unpleasant.

Has anyone here found any successful coping strategies/mechanisms? If so, what are they?

Have you tried Talk Therapy? I learned how to see the "bright side of things" in the middle of despair. I really suggest it.

Also, if you are into vitamins, you could take 5HTP. It will help increase the serotonin you are missing.
