Lowering blood sugar levels

I am 64 year old female with type 2 Diabeties at present I am not taking any medication and would really like to keep it that way.But lately my bsl's have been a bit high (7.7) 2hours after a meal.I thought I would try cinnamon but have just read it does not work on post menapausal women.I live in Australia is there any other herbs or natural ways to lower my readings. Many many thanks

I tried 2 things. Fenugreek and Bitter melon. Neither did much for me, but there is a lot of info out there that they help.

I mixed Fenugreek powder with yogurt (tasted like %#[email protected])

I tired bitter melon tablets which did nothing. I also tried bitter melon tea which may have had a very slight effect. If anything I would try that.

Studies on apple cider vinegar tablets also claimed to lower PP levels.

The best natural weapons you have are exercise, weight reduction (if overweight), and carbohydrate reduction in your diet. A 7.7 postprandial reading tells me that you most likely won't need drugs if you use your weapons.

Eating lean meat, green vegetables plus exercise will bring the BS down.

If overweight, lose weight.

I did the following:

Breakfast......2 tablespoons oatmeal/oat bran mixture cooked in water.

Lunch......3 oz. lean meat, 1/2 cup green veggie plus another 1/2 cup of a green veggie.

Dinner......same as for lunch.

Walked treadmill 2-3 miles each day.

Used an "invisible zipper in closed position over mouth" when in presence of food other than sitting to eat a meal.

I complained to my diabetes specialist about eating meat and only green veggies and he said "what's wrong with that"? Apparently he thought that was just fine.

I lost 65 lbs on the above diet.

The above worked beautifully, however, for various reasons I gained a lot of the weight back and for some reason just cannot quite get that "invisible zipper" in a closed position again!!

The most researched mineral for Glusose control is the mineral called Chromium Picolinate (It is rather cheap at most pharmacy/supermarket chains). It is also very well researched. Another supplement is called ALPHA LIPOIC ACID, this also has been shown to lower glucose (It is a bit more expensive)
