Antibiotics and Diabetes

Taking Duricef (antibiotic) for an infection. Blood sugar is higher than usual. Have been on meds for 10 days. I would think infection is gone.....but still numbers are elevated so I'm thinking it's the pill causing the rise? Can this be correct?

Re: Antibiotics and Diabetes

I don't know of the link between antibiotics and blood sugar rise. However, infections in people with diabetes cause higher blood sugar levels. High blood sugar levels also PROMOTE infections. So, it might be the case that you have some lingering infection for longer than a non-diabetic might expect.
