  • nutella? too good to be true

    i'm full of questions!

    according to the glycemic index site nutella has a gi of 30 and a gl of 4

    does this mean hypoglycemics can eat nutellla?? sounds fishy to me!

    While every person reacts differently, I wouldn't eat it. I used to use it when my blood sugar was low, but I had type 1 diabetes. Nutella has 11g of fat, but 23g of carb, 20g of which is sugar. So it's really sweet and if you have reactive hypoglycemia it could cause you to crash. All I can say is if you want to try it, be prepared.

    thanks, i'm not going to try it...i've been eating too good lately to mess it all up. it's just examples like that that make me seriously question gi/gl of foods and their reliability.

    on a side note, i read you can make a safer homemade version of nutella. i might try that someday
