Infection on foot, getting worse

Hello. My dad is diabetic, type two. He takes insulin. He is 54 years old, healthy weight and no other health problems besides diabetes. He takes blood thinners because of a past blood clot.
About a week ago, he caught his ankle on our aluminum screen door. It made a small wound in his ankle, and I cleaned it with alcohol and peroxide and put a bandaid on it.
At work yesterday, it started to bleed again and he cleaned it again with peroxide and such. Today at work, he felt pain while walking on his foot and it now appears to be swollen. I took a few pictures. I'm concerned that because he is diabetic that he might have to get it amputated. He has a dr. appointment Tuesday. What should we do in the mean time?
Thanks in advance!!!
