    Smile Is my diet healthy?

    Hey Everyone. I've been trying to get on a more steady diet, and I think I'm doing OK, but I wanna know what you think. I'll keep this short:
    -Breakfast: 2 eggs scrambled with ham and cheese
    -Lunch: Meat (mostly beef) with cooked veggies, one serving of rice or cous cous with veggies mixed in. Side of mixed veggie salad and balsamic vinegar.
    -Dinner: A vine and a half of grapes. About a serving or two of mixed nuts.

    Emilio,
    Have you had your cholesterol checked? You are eating allot of beef and even eggs and cheese, which can raise your cholesterol. Can you eliminate the cheese once in awhile and switch out the beef to poultry? Chicken or turkey? You also have zero good fats in your diet...no fish or Omega 3s such as olive oil (unless you are putting that on your salad?)

    Do you snack at all? Healthy snacks such as a handful of walnuts will help your Omega intake. We all need healthy fats in our diet. What do you cook your morning eggs in? Are you using butter? If so- that is more cholesterol.

    Your diet is not the best. You really need a balance of protein and fat as well as the salads and carbs.

    I would disagree with the idea that cholesterol is neccesarily bad for you. Not sure if there are as many benefits for women but at least for men it raises your testosterone and has a bunch of nutrients.

    Are you doing any type of exercise? And are you eating to lose weight, gain or maintain?

    Just to give an overview: Animal protein is not health food because you can easily get all the protein you need from a plant based diet. Plants contain healthy protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and antioxidants etc.

    So, as a general rule, the less you rely on animal protein the better. Nothing beats fresh fruit and vegetables, whole (intact) grains, legumes, nuts and seeds.
