Question "Throw Up" feeling in throat!?

Every now and then I get this feeling that the food I just consumed is literally sitting in my throat! It feels like the food wants to come up, but it cannot...it just SITS THERE, annoying me! My stomach feels fine, it's just that I FEEL as if the food is sitting in the back of my THROAT. It is disgusting and a nauseating feeling! I try drinking water, but unfortunately that does not help Also, this feeling causes me to lose my appetite for the entire day. I do not know what to do
Anyone know what is causing this repulsive feeling?
    Any advice would be great!

Is is possible that you have a goiter (enlarged thyroid)? Your thryoid is located near the front of your throat and if enlarged can make swallowing difficult. You might want to get this checked by a doctor. If you suspect this might be the case, more info can likely be found in the thyroid forum here at Healthboards.

There is also a condition called "Zenker's diverticula," which is basically a puffed out pouch in the esophagus that traps food, sometimes causing gagging and coughing.
It's usually detected (with difficulty) in an "upper GI" set of X-rays.
My friend has it and it was really tough to diagnose (even endoscopy missed the opening.)

If your condition persists, get it scoped at least because there are some scary unmentionables that can cause the feeling of something lodged in the gullet.
