I love plain hot air popped popcorn. It is a bad idea because it is too high in carbohydrates? I really need an answer to this one! Is it bad to eat before bed? Thank you.

Hi Sleepers, I don't have an answer for you but I too would like to know this. I didn't know about the carbs, but I think there is natural sugar in corn. I have it almost every night before bed.

Air-popped popcorn has 4.65 grams of carbs per one cup. So... Fix your usual portion, take a dry-goods measuring cup and see how many cups you have, multiply by 4.65, and you'll have your answer. If you are on a low carb plan, you might want to just have it as a special treat now and then. Otherwise, on other diets, it's a good snack.

I think popcorn is a pretty good snack, even on a lower carb diet. The fiber count is pretty high, so it's going to get absorbed slowly. I'm on the second phase of the South Beach Diet, and added popcorn to my diet, about a microwaved bag every other day, and am still taking the weight off slowly.
