Raw Oatmeal

A friend recently told me that he puts raw oatmeal in his protien shakes. This sounds like a good idea to me, i can buy protein and add calories, instead of paying more for weight gainer shakes.

My question: If the oatmeal is not cooked, will it still digest easily? Will I still get all the benefits of oatmeal?

Re: Raw Oatmeal

Definately! I prefer raw over cooked anyday, just requires more chewing, is supposed to much healthier for you. Anna

Re: Raw Oatmeal

Get the INSTANT. It will thicken your shake cheaply with all its soluble fiber. I use Xanthan Gum for the same purpose. With cocoa, egg, milk, vanilla and protein powder and sweetner (calorie free for me) into the blender with 5 ice cubes and it's YUMMY: thick, frigid, and delicious! And FAR cheaper and tastier than "store bought."

[Obviously mine is the weight-loss shake, but substituting sugar and cream for the sweetner and the milk will make the tubby version!]

Re: Raw Oatmeal

I often eat raw oatmeal in yogurt and stuff like that, or mixed with fruit. I usually soak it for a while before I eat it.
