Hey...I've been using Stevia as a sweetner for years - i've bought in in bulk even and used it to make everything -but I wonder - how much is too much? Anyone know anything bad about it - there have only been positivve reports from what I know but it isn't FDA approved....

Re: Stevia
Lostgrl- It isn't FDA approved because it is a supplement. I have read that it can cause low sperm counts in men butthat shouldn't be a concern

Re: Stevia
I am just nervous because I really can use a lot of it - especially in the summer - I make iced tea and stuff with it - and although it is really sweet - I think just like anything - you develop a tolerance for it and have to use more....anyone use it very liberally as well?

Re: Stevia
My mother-in-law is from South America and she says they use it very liberally over there. She has been using it for years and is very healthy. From what I know it is much healthier than sugar and has no side-effects.

Re: Stevia
Make sure you are using the Stevia Plus. It is much better for you and has fiber in it. The FDA hasn't approved it as a sweetener even tho' it is a natural sweetener grown from a plant. It has been approved as a supplement. 2 tsp a day or 2 packets are really all you need daily. I wouldn't go over this amount.
