what should I eat when trying to lose weight.

what should I eat when trying to lose weight.

My diet is very clean, however I never really paid any attention to how many calories I was eating, or how many grams of protein, fibre, carbs, etc I'm suppose to eat.

Can anyone help me out re: this. Someone mentioned that I should follow this rule...

30% carbs, 30% protein, 30% fiber, 10% fat

is this true?

Can someone list a sample menu of one full day (BREAKFAST, LUNCH, DINNER) so I can get an idea of how much of protein fibre etc I;m suppose to be eating.

A person need about 50 grams of protein daily and 25 to 35 grams of fiber. These are to not loose muscle mass and to have regular BMs.

I don't think that is any set formula that works for everyone. I've never seen fiber put into the formula, just as a number of grams per day (it is carbohydrate), as Harry listed.

The ratio most often cited is the Zone - 40% carb; 30% protein; 30% fat. 10% fat is EXTREMELY low.

Some people do better with low fat; some do better lowering carbs. One needs to look at what is contributing to excess weight; what sort of plan one can live with long-term; etc.

General guidelines would be to steer away from processed, refined foods towards whole, natural foods - more veggies and fruits.
