Good, let me or us know your progress!

    Re: Am I too thin?

i am 5 feet 6 inches and only 100lbs, about mid-20s in age. I eat in moderate amounts, abt 2 or 3 times per day.

when i was 126lbs at 20 yrs I got stretch marks and i looked bloated, and i dont want that to happen to me now, my husband thinks i am way too thin. when i eat the weight goes to my face and my body remains sorta thin still... it may appear disproportional

How can i gain weight in just the right places?

    Looking forward to ur responses.

    Re: Am I too thin?

Magnolia...good for you!! I can totally relate to how you are feeling...the excitement of gaining a little weight. It sounds weird to be excited about it but I am too. I see so many other women that are curvier and that weigh quite a bit more than me and I think they look beautiful! A woman's body is meant to have curves! I'm started to get some of my curves back but I'm still skinny. I know what you mean about the love handles and thighs. I got to the point where I didn't have any fat on my hips...at all. I just plain didn't have any fat anywhere. My thighs still don't touch either but I know they are going to look much better fuller. I'm taking up yoga. I used to do pilates 4-5 times a week but I just didn't enjoy it. Yoga makes me feel so invigorated and good about my body. It's something I know I could do about everyday and not get burnt out on it. Isn't it so freeing to let go of calorie counting and all of your "rules"? I feel so much happier and just free. It's absolutely amazing! My focus now is just on being healthy. I know I'm not healthy now because I'm not having periods. I'm 5'1" and now weigh 100-102. My goal is between 105-110. I believe in the "set point" theory. I think mine is around 110. Because before my ED I ate whatever I wanted and whenever I wanted. I never exercised either and I stayed at 110 and never gained an ounce. But I eat ALOT healthier now and I do exercise so I think my weight wil stabilize somewhere between 105-110. Anyway, I'm so glad you realized you needed to gain a little weight. It took me awhile too to realize it. I was in denial for a long time that I even had a problem. I was 90 pounds before I realized it was time to stop! But anyway...take care and hang in there ok?

    Re: Am I too thin?

I think you are extremely lucky right now. I am 19 yrs old, about 5'2 and I only weigh a little under 100 pds. I think I eat normally and everything, but I have always been skinny. I would love to gain about 20 pds. I have tried the powder mix drinks that is suppose to help you gain weight, but it didnt help me. If anyone knows of any vitamins, food or drinks that actually work...please let me know!

No, it's not normal. If your doctor told you that I suggest you find another one. I don't know if it is a gyno, but that is the type of doctor you should be seeing regarding this matter. Regardless, it isn't normal and your doctor needs to go back to med school. I wouldn't even go to that doctor for a cold. I am quite shocked that he told you that. It's already July!

    good luck!

Wow, your weight seems healthy and NO period, that seems strange.

    Re: Am I too thin?

Hi. I am also 5'5 1/2 and weigh about 125 (on a good day) And I feel fat! People are constantly telling me that I am not but when I was in highschool I weighed around 115 and that is where I would like to be. I saw a trainer at my gym and she told me that my ideal weight for my frame is 118. I am also a pescatarian, so I won't eat meat. I would ideally like to lose about 10 pounds, but it wont come off!!! I do cardio 3-4 times per week and I do circuit training 3 times a week. I eat well. I eat under 1500 calories a day, to kick start some weight loss I've been eating 1200 calories or under but it is not working. I have been trying to do this since January. Any suggestions? I am desperate. I don't feel comfortable at this weight and need some help.

    Re: Am I too thin?

chelle-- No period is a sign of several things, but most likely in your case is is a sign of a too low body weight or body fat. While you may be on the low end of healthy for your range, your body probably needs more weight on it to be healthy. To be healthy, seriously consider gaining 5-10 lbs.

    Re: Am I too thin?

Right now your almost underweight according to your BMI(bodyMassIndex) your .4% away for it!!!! I suggest you gain a little because being underweight can be as bad as being overweight

    Below 18.5 Underweight
    18.5 24.9 Normal
    25.0 29.9 Overweight
    30.0 and Above Obese

    Your at 18.9

before at 135 pounds with a BMI of 22.5

This information isn't exact to get your exact BMI go to your doctor, this is based on your weight compared to your height, but other factors may change this such as the amount of muscle you have.

Also not having your period, this can be the cause but it also can mean you may have a serious health problem and should talk to your doctor for that also.
