    Post they digest well?

I posted this in the digestive board as well. I know that tomatoes are good for you, but, do they digest well? Even without the skins?

Tomatoes can be acid forming and can irritate the digestive tract. I think this is more the case with cooked tomatoes.

They also contain a lectin within the jelly-like substance that surrounds the seeds, which can interact with the lining of the digestive tract. Some groups think tomatoes can cause an autoimmune reaction that originates in the gut, or if you have a leaky gut, then the lectins can become systemic and cause problems.

Of course they are also high in carotenoids, like lycopene which has proven health benefits, so I say if you can eat them without pain or inflammatory conditions, then knock yourself out.

    Good luck,
