    Question Face looks sickly

I lost a lot of weight way too quickly (after getting off of antidepressants) and now my face looks sickly and way too thin. I'm not too underweight (5'5" and 107 lbs) but I want to gain weight in my face without gaining it anywhere else. I know that's not possible, but if I build muscle and gain some muscle tone and become altogether healthier, will the thin/sickly look go away from my face? I look like the stereotypical heroin addict

I know this won't help with fullness, but drinking plenty of water and eating a balanced diet in general will help your skin look better, which will help with the "heroin addict" look. Also, when I was on a low carb diet my skin looked great. I think it was because I was eating more protein and fat than I had been used to. I'm not suggesting eating a Big Mac everyday, but if you're not eating any fat, it affects your skin.

Thanks so much for that. I've been trying to eat more protein, and I actually just started introducing EFA's (Essential Fatty Acids) into my diet, so maybe that will help. I don't recall if I mentioned it in my original post or not, but I'm actually allergic to wheat (which is practically in EVERYTHING)so I also just started eating different grains, like Spelt bread, too. I just want to look thin, but ultimately, HEALTHY.

    Solcstice,

Im noticed the same thing. I lost 33 pounds down to excellent weight but I looked 10 years older. I gained back 15 pounds and the old face looks much better. A dilemma, indeed.

    Solstice,

I'm curious, what was your weight before the antidepressants? Looking at your current height & weight, I would say you are definitely underweight. As long as you exercise and eat right I would think you would eventually reach a healthy weight. You say you look sickly, but how do you feel?
