    hummus/guacomole/healthy snacks

    hey guys..
    my diet basically consists or fruits, nuts, vegetables, and fish but im getting kind of bored and was wondering about some other healthy snacks..
    my snacks now consist basically of fruits and nuts which i am sure i eat entirely way too much of so im trying to change it a bit...

    i just bought hummus and guacomole at whole foods and the ingredients seem pretty healthy-
    so as a healthy snack i would eat carrots/tomatoes/cucumbers with hummus or guacomole.. is this a sensible snack? is it fattening? do you guys have any other ideas?

    thats what i do, except i use TLC crackers because theyre healthy too. but veggies are the best. hummus is amazing stuff! theres like 19384094 differnt kinds!

    You can make yogurt out of kefir which is very healthy and add either fruit or grade A or B maple syrup. You can make icecream out of coconut milk. Use cacao nibs (healthy chocolate) to make hot chocolate or freeze it and have it that way. Freeze juiced fruit into those popcycle trays. Or buy live green food bars at the health store which come in different varieties.

    *Plain, organic, non-fat yogurt with fresh or frozen organic berries.
    *Ak Mak crackers with lite Laughing Cow cheese or low fat string cheese.
    *Salsa with baked, organic, low fat tortilla chips
    *Teriyaki Tofu (comes pre-packaged) on rye bread
    *Can of salmon with rye bread
    These are all greatsnacks.
    Guacamole is good but can be fattening due to the avocados and the fat in them.
    That fat is good for you but it is still fat so has lots of calories. Eat in moderation.

    Don't toss hummus and guacamole into the same category, they are very different, except perhaps for a spreadable texture. Hummus is the more healthfood snack/meal. Chickpeas provine a high protein source with lots of fiber. It is so nourishing that often with some pita it is a full meal for me.

    I make my own hummus, easy as pie....yummm!

    the other day i saw avocado houmous in local supermarket, so it looks like it's not that different, sort of two in one

    Oh well, I guess they can market anything. Did that market have any Chicken-Pretzels?
