Certain foods and feeling anxious

After eating at our local mexican restaurant I feel jittery, anxious (like I need to get up and run around the block) and get leg cramps a few hours after eating. I eat a variety of food off the menu but always eat chips with salt and salsa. Could this be causing the jittery anxiety I feel?

robi123,

It's possible that there is some MSG in some spice mixture that they use. Or perhaps it's some other ingredient that you are reacting to (chili powder, for example). Does this happen only when you eat at this restaurant, or does it happen when you eat Mexican food in general?

I've given up eating in chain restaurants of all sorts (here in Germany) because of the MSG and other "enhancements" that are added to foods. Sigh. :(

It could also be the amount of sugar in the meal you ate.
I get the same way when I have an overload of sugar in my system
