Thumbs up Orange Peels and Hot Water?

I would guess since people use the zest, and some of the white part is left on the orange after it's peeled that the orange peel can be eaten. I was wondering if orange peel tea can basicly be made by using fresh orange peels and hot water? Also, can you eat the orange peel? ...and how long can it last in the fridge? Oh, and how much vitamin c and other nutrients are in it?

PS: and what unique benefits are there for drinking it?

Can you eat the orange peel? I can answer that question. Yes! You can! Whether it's a good idea or not, I'm not sure. Years ago my father had a friend who never peeled an orange. He just ate the whole thing. Gulp! I think it takes good strong teeth and a willingness to do a lot of hard chewing. Not only that but it's messy too.

Re: Orange Peels and Hot Water?

    Interesting post Bob,

I sure thinnk it would be worth the try/experiment. Orange peel tea
    with hot water.

Oddly enough I have frequently eaten the rind/peal of lemons and
oranges. Of course I nibble at it but do love the taste/flavor. The
zest part is yummy too of course.

Nutrients and vitamin C? I am not sure on that one but would like to
    know also.

Stop by again Bob....I would like to chat more.
