What Causes Repeated Iron Drop?

For the second time in the past few years, my iron has dropped drastically. But the doctors say I am not anemic. My recent lab work showed my Ferritin to be 9 when it should have been at least 50.

What could be causing this?

Re: What Causes Repeated Iron Drop?

There could be something you're eating that causes iron to not be absorbed well. Internal bleeding is another factor but I'd think you'd know about that if it was the case. I guess since you don't have low iron all the time, you are not considered anemic. Have you been taking iron supplements and eating iron rich foods? Also, menstrual periods can cause a drop in iron.
