    Re: How much water?

I think you should be safe with 2 litres, less if you have lots of fruit or veggies that have high water content... I'm currently on 3 litres a day, and my bladders has learned to accommodate it!! :-)

    Re: How much water?

I normally drink 5 glasses a day and I think 4-6 glasses are enough to drink in a day.

    Re: How much water?

I've been using the urine color rule as a sign of dehydration. That is to say optimal urine color should be the color of lemonade. If it is any darker then that can be your guide of how much more to drink. What's strange for me is that the amount I need to get the color right is about 16 oz and not what the recommended amount is.

    Re: How much water?

Is the colour of ones urine an accurate measure against Dehydration?...

The reason I ask is because I drink one glass or less of water per day and my urine is practically colourless.
I drink mostly Herbal or regular tea or home made fruit juices.
My Dr tells me I am not dehydrated. I just do not enjoy water on it's own,

    Solofelix.

You should drink 1/2 your body weight.. Example.....if you weigh 150 divide by 2 it =75 so drink 75oz a day.......

    Re: How much water?

I weigh 46kg so if what you are saying then I should drink
    23oz per day.
My Dr told me its not just water but all other fluids be it tea, coffee, herbal tea, fruit juice and what ever liquids are in our foods all count as the same as water on its own.
This is obviously why I am not dehydrated because I drink a lot of the named drinks.
I do not drink Carbonated drinks only what I've listed, also I don't drink coffee ever,

    Solofelix.

    Re: How much water?

It depends on how much intake you get from food, what you are wearing, the temperature, your fitness, the humidity, and your activity level. In other words, it varies a lot! If you are peeing light colored urine every 2-3 hours, then you are fine. The eight-8 oz glasses recommendation is almost completely made up and doesn't account for the amount of water that you get from your solid food.

    Wink Re: How much water?

I have to pee once every hour. I think that means I'm doing well. If I don't have to pee once every hour, I know I've eaten something salty or am not drinking enough.

    Re: How much water?

Normally I drink 12 glass of water. It depends what kind of life style you are living. When I exercise I increase my water intake.

    Re: How much water?

I agree with half your body weight. Someone asked if they should drink 23 oz because they are 46 kg... calculate your weight in pounds, then cut that in half. You should drink a little over 50 oz a day.
I try to get at least 64 oz, more if I can. I am breastfeeding so water is important. I also love tea! That's a great way to drink water (decaffeinated)
Also, remember there is water in food. Certain foods, teas, homemade juices all count!
