Unhappy Incessant Burping/Not Being Able To Burp

Where do I begin? IBS sufferer for many years but this problem is totally new for me. I feel like I have to burp, but can't get it up. Then I have anxiety over not being able to burp so I become nauseous. Then when I finally do burp, I don't stop. My doctor thinks it's anxiety but I seem to have stress in my life fairly consistently and this is new. I have tried taking IBgard, probiotics, nothing seems to work. This just started happening a month or so ago and now I have trouble eating thinking I won't be able to burp, and on and on. Any ideas what is causing this?

Have you seen a gastro specialist? An upper scope would probably be best.
Definitely get checked for H. Pylori.

In the meantime, you could try Nexium and see if it helps.

Thank you for your reply! I had an upper endoscopy earlier this year but didn't have these symptoms then. Results were normal. I contacted my gastro doctor online and she said to take Pepcid Complete and Gas-X, which I have tried for a good amount of time with no good results. I am thinking stress/anxiety or post-nasal drip? I do have stress but then again, I always have had stress in my life and it never manifested itself this way. I take allergy shots every few weeks so I am not sure about the post-nasal drip. I did send a message to my allergist but he kind of debunked the thought of incessant burping being allergy-related. I donít want to take Nexium because I am currently taking Dexilant.

I am also trying Super Papaya Enzyme Plus supplements. The burping/not being able to burp is subsiding but currently have nausea and more frequent BM's. I am wondering if upping my Dexilant to 60 mg. per day instead of 30 mg. per day is causing this current situation?

Apoligies for not responding to your previous reply...i must have read it but didn't have time and forgot.

It's really hard to say, but could be a possibility. All you can do is go back to your lower dosage of Dexilant and see if it improves.

Post nasal drip definitely could have impact because of the amount of air one takes in from snorking and swallowing.

    Have you had a colonoscopy?

When do you usually take the enzymes, and how much more often are you having bms?

    Have you tried probiotics?

Re: Incessant Burping/Not Being Able To Burp

Thank you, Quincy, no need for apologies! I have taken probiotics for years and have had no real issues with my digestion. I had an upper endoscopy February of 2020 which found nothing. I have had a few colonoscopies, most recently April of 2020. Nothing found.

Having all this time to think, I am NOT ruling out this issue is being caused by a migraine medication I was taking monthly, Emgality. Digestive issues are common with this injection and although I stopped it back in November, it can stay in your system for up to 5 months wreaking havoc on your body!

I am still sticking with my 60 mg. of Dexilant because I have to give it a little longer before deciding if it is the culprit.

I am sticking with gluten-free and also need to give this more time.

The burping has gotten better but still digestive issues. More frequent BM's and general stomach upset.

Re: Incessant Burping/Not Being Able To Burp

I take the papaya enzymes after each meal. I do like them. BM's now come frequently after I eat breakfast, maybe 3-4 trips to the bathroom, and I have always leaned toward constipation, so this is not completely a "bad" problem for me now.
