Stomach problems - gas and nausea

Since the beginning of the year, I have been having recurrent stomach problems. At first it seemed like a very low grade nausea - not bad enogh to vomit, but just upsetting. Most of the time, it feels like stomach gas churning around. My sotmach makes gurgling noises a lot. Some days, I belch constantly. There have been periods where i'll have a week or so of relief, but then I'll suffer again for another week. I am very anxious about helath probelms, and I have been waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to go back to sleep. I am tense and anxious all of the time, especially since I'll feel better for a bit, then the symptoms will return. I'm wondering if this is due to anxiety and depression - I went through a very anxious and distressing time in december. Could these symptoms be a dperession or anxiety disorder? The symptoms seem to subside if i have a couple of drinks, which makes we wonder if its all my own anxiety. I would appreciate some feedback? anyone suffer from the same thing?

Look on these boards for my theory on "burbling" --it includes info re gas in the stomach & the burping mechanism...It may be at play here in your case. I plan to see a Traditional Chinese Medicine specialist next week----allopathic medicine has done next-to-nothing for me. I have an upper endoscopy Friday & if no acid reflux damage shows up, I'll have to assume gas & my emotions have been at the root of my stomach troubles.Hang in there!

Re: Stomach problems - gas and nausea

I have had something called functional dyspepsia for over a year! it's a chronic stomach problem. I get nausea and stomach aches alot, sometimes I feel fine and others it flares up! Sounds like what you are saying. They ruled it out as functional dyspepsia as all the tests they do come out clear and if there is no sign of stomach damage and antacids don't help it is usually this.

I have to live with it forever! a bit like people with IBS say, it's here for good.
I would try antacids from your doctor, don't leave it!!
If antacids help it's usually something like an ulcer and ulcers clear up very quickly with antacids.
Doesn't sound like gastritis, as you would be in pain alot and feel pretty dreadful alot of the time.

You may have functional dyspepsia?? or it may just be because of your nerves.
