Gastroparesis
Well my husband was discovered with Diabetes’s about 5 months ago and was put on two diabetic pills. Three months later on August 19, 2004 he started vomiting and was taken to the hospital nothing was found at that point. He came home and was still sick... a constant vomiting and a discomfort in the stomach and couldn’t even keep down water. It took being in the hospital three times and a private doctor to say he had Gastroparesis...he has had every blood test imaginable and from Scan, ultrasound, endoscopy, and a final emptying of the stomach to confirm the diagnostic that the muscle is not working at his full capacity. I have learned that doctors don’t really associate gastroparesis with diabetic. He has been put on Reglan 15mg four times a day, prevacid and insulin... also he has tried other medication like erythromycin and he still has not gotten any better...we are seeing a diabetic doctor and a stomach specialist. He is now starting to try to just drink booster plus and ensure plus and has his dosage of insulin to 20 that he started today if he doesn’t get any better the doctor told me today he might have to use the feeding tube to the stomach or bypass the stomach to get his liquid nutrition so the stomach can get a rest due to the long constant vomiting he also has a bad reflex. He hasn’t worked at all since this all started due to the vomiting and all he wants to do is lay in bed. He has lost a lot of pounds due to all this to. The doctor said if this does not work he would then have to see about the battery operated device is surgically implanted and emits mild electrical pulses that help control nausea and vomiting associated with gastroparesis. I have done a lot of research about gastroparesis and all the medications that are out there for this problem. If there is anyone out there that has a similar problems please let me know.
