| Belching & bloating & burning
Has anyone else experienced alot of belching. I've
been feeling bloated and have a slight burning across
bottom of my rib cage. When I try to make myself belch
I get alot out and feel better temperarily but it
bloats again with the burning feeling. I know what
heart burn feels like but this feels different and is
not up in my throat. Any symptoms sound familiar?

Hi there. Have you had your gall bladder checked?

I agree it sure sounds like gallbladder problems. I think you need it checked also.

Thanks. I still have everything intact. I was wondering
about gallbladder. I have a dr. appointment but it's
hard to get in very quick. So, I was wondering if
other's had these symptoms and what it might be.
Did you have other symptoms also and is the only
option surgery? Thanks.

Hi again Denise. My GB symptoms were pretty typical of GB problems: nausea, abdominal discomfort (right in the midline), sharp stabbing or dull achy pain in the upper right quadrant and radiating to between the shoulder blades, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, gas/belching, bloating, and weight loss because everything I ate either hurt or made me sick.
It was over a year of misery before the docs finally figured out it truly was my gall bladder. Usually surgery is the only way to correct the problem - I'm glad I had mine out for as horrible as I felt. However, I was also dealing with GERD too, and for me the 2 went hand in hand. After GB surgery, my reflux actually worsened and I ended up having surgery to correct that too. My IBS continues - let's just say my digestive tract is a mess, but since my IBS is under control, I'm doing ok overall.
Good luck to you and keep us posted,
Katie G

Thanks Kate. I don't seem to have any of the worse
symptoms of Gallbladder that's what makes me wonder.
I don't have alot of pain and the pressure I feel
seems worse on the upper left side not right. I don't
feel sick just uncomfortable. But it could still be
GallB. I guess just beginning. Also in reading more,
IBS is not out of the relm of possibility nor is an
ulcer. I seem to have a few symptoms of each but don't
exactly match any of them. So, I'm trying to cut out
foods like dairy and spicey etc and try to notice if
anything I do makes it worse or better. Taking something for high acid seems to help with the burning feeling but only a little for the bloating. Walking
seems to ease the feeling too. So, I guess I'll just
present all these things to my Dr. and see what she says. Thanks. It helps to hear from others. Hope you
get to feeling better too.

Went to the Dr. she thinks it's IBS. She gave me
a script to take so I guess we'll see if It goes away
with the pills.

Has anyone mentioned the possibility of a stomach ulcer?
The belching and burning above the ribcage/below the breast bone and very common symptoms of it!
If these pills don't work, I suggest asking about an ulcer!

Yes, I have thought of ulcer but my Dr. didn't mention
it. She said to try the pills and if they don't work
she'd check out my colon. So, far they seem to be working
after only two days. So, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Hello,
Here's another thought. I was having the same problems in the beginning...except I was unable to dispel the bloating and gas, period. Excruciating, prolly as bad as some of the back pain I have experienced (which is worse than bearing a child, even when baby gets stuck). ouch. Turned out I was having problems digesting things like beans (beano is 'OK', it may help you). I had the same symptoms (but milder) with cauliflower, sometimes broccoli, and always iceberg lettuce. Go figure. I just don't eat beans or iceberg lettuce anymore, no more of (that kind of) pain. I have a hiatal hernia with terrible acid-reflux....and my father died of esophageal cancer because he too suffered his whole life with what I have. But then...I don't gob loads of hot sauce on my food, nor drink alcohol (I might have 1 'toast' a year if I feel like it), which dad did often. My brother told me he remembered dad "slamming" out of his bedroom all the time to slug down a bunch of liquid Malox or Milanta in order to put the "fire out". I remember seeing those little white chalky pills EVERYWHERE around the house as I grew up.
Luckily, my H-pylori (sp?) count is within normal range, so I'm just going to keep watching what I eat, and watching "it". Protonix is what I take every morning now and haven't had problems as long as I don't forget a pill. It's like everything just sits in my stomach and 'sours'...ugh, nasty stuff. Sorry to draw such a yucky picture...I'll put my pen down now.
Take care,
successtory
