Unhappy Esophageal varices

I have esophageal varices, due to a large blood clot in my hepatic portal vein. This was caused by a large pseudocyst which formed when I had pancreatitis. I do not drink alcohol, so that was not the cause. The varices were so enormous (4x4) that I ultimately had to have a rare operation called a modified suigura, which is essentially a stomach/bowel devascularization and spleenectomy. This followed a failed Distal Splenic Renal Shunt. I still have to get esophageal banding done every six months, which is done in-patient, and done with an endoscopy instrument. I have developed IBS-D, and Type 2 diabetes. I am searching for others with this condition, and this type of operation. It is so rarely done that my gastroenterlogist can't even tell me if the pain, D, and incredible weight loss (60 pounds) that I have is normal or not. Please respond if you know anything about this condition or this operation, and the after effects. Looking for what I can eat, control bowel spasms, and lessen pain.
