Pancreatitis/stents, SOD questions
Hello everyone. I am a 29 year old female that became sick after a plain old bad stomach virus. It was been a long 10 months of being sick. I have been diagnosed as having gastroparesis and pancreatitis. I was put on a medication out of canada (because its not approved by FDA) for my gastroparesis but my pancreatitis is still quite an issue. I have had multiple ERCP's where they did a sphincterotomy because my pressures were slightly high and had another a month ago for a stent placement. I am scheduled to go in July 2nd to have the stent removed and another placed. They still dont know what is causing my pancreatitis whether it is smoldering pancreatitis or sphincter of oddi dysfunction. At any rate, the fine doctor thinks if we stent it for a while, things will improve. Now I admit since the first stent was placed I went from being able to drink liquids to now being about to eat low fat solids but I still have high levels of amylase and lipase and still have bouts of pain. I have been told that these stents can be very damaging to your pancreas, and I was wondering how long before they become damaging?? Also looking for anyone that has experienced this or has any advise. Thank you, Sam P.S. no i dont have a gallbladder
