gallstones and arm pain?

I am new to this board, looking for some answers, I was feeling tightness in my chest, had some sort of "attack" last Saturday nite I now presume brought on by too much to eat, but at the time due to the fullness in my chest, shaking, chills, etc, I was concerned about something cardiac related and since I wrote down "chest pains" as a symptom when I checked into the ER I had numerous heart tests done (EKGs, ECG, stress testing, scans, MRIs). While having an echocardiogram, the technician inexplicably (but i want to go back and express my intense gratitude to her for it) moved the wand over to my right side for just a few seconds and asked me "did you know you had gallstones?" I absolutely had no clue. All heart tests turned out fine,my heart was deemed healthy, but the technician didnt note the gallstones in her report (but she did me a favor by telling me) I had an abdominal scan done Thursday within my usual medical group and I saw numerous stones in my gallbladder myself (and the tech confirmed of course). I have only been able to eat 2 small meals a day, my chest and upper abdomen feel tight, my back and shoulders hurt (i have read that this is common) but I also find my arms feeling VERY TIRED with minimal effort (ie raising my arms above my head to comb my hair, holding a towel in my arm, etc) I have seen chest, back, neck pain mentioned on various websites and medical books as symptoms, but nothing about arms hurting or being tired, has anyone had this or can anyone see any logic in why it might occur?
I havent even been officially diagnosed at this point, I have an appt with my PCP Monday and she will send me to a specialist, but as I stated, I saw the stones myself on the utlrasound
thanks for any info

Re: gallstones and arm pain?

I don't recall having the arm weakness symptoms that you mention. However, I did have pain under the ribs, in the back and in my right shoulder along with heart palpitations--so went thru the EKG and had blood drawn to see if I had suffered a heart attack. Thankfully no.

Gallstones are very common after middle age, esp for women. Just having them doesn't mean that the will cause major problems.

If the PCP believes that the gallbladder is the problem then the next test will probably be the HIDA scan, which is a relatively easy test.

Good luck.
