Bowels 10 weeks after GB Surgery

I had my Gallbladder removed 10 weeks ago and up until that I was fine. About 3-4 weeks after the surgery I noticed my bowel movments becoming looser and very thin. (Sorry for all the info) I was eating the same as a usually do, low-fat diet, lots of fiber.(I'm a marathon runner) Will they ever go back to normal? This is kind of depressing. I'm not a big fan of having to take any type of meds, I don't want to be stuck on something the rest of my life..I'm 32 year old female.

Re: Bowels 10 weeks after GB Surgery

I hope you did not think your digestion would be the same after you had your gallbladder removed??

Thin and loose stools indicate you are intaking too much insoluble fiber.
I afraid you are stuck on eating a diet that contains more soluble fiber to bulk up your stool.
You can do it with food or an insoluble fiber supplement.

For normal BMs a person needs 25 to 35 grams of fiber daily ---and that is with a GB. It also needs to be a combination of both soluble and insoluble fiber.

All meats, seafood and dairy products contain No fiber.
