Stomach hurts from not eating due to constipation but can't eat

I had my tonsills taking out about 2 weeks ago and have been on different drugs, mainly hydrocodone, and been drinking Ensure Plus because I can't eat (hurts). The doctor failed to inform me it slows down your system.

So I had severe constipation, and for 2 days I didn't eat because I didn't want any more build up considering I couldn't "go". Now I finally managed to go (with lots of pain) and now I'm going every 30 minutes to an hour and it kills. And I still havn't eaten anything except 1 ensure and my stomach felt like I was going to throw up.

Also I really don't want to eat (other then because I'm starving) because eating leads to more "going" (aka more pain).

Any suggestions?

Try taking stool softeners, that's what helps me and much less painful.

Benefiber also makes your stool softer and bulkier so it can move through your system faster. It's easy to take too. Also drink a lot of WATER and walk every day, even though you probably don't feel like it. Inactivity makes constipation much worse, and makes it last much longer. I assume that you've stopped the hydrocodone.

I think you'll feel better when you start eating normal food again. Applesauce is the first food I go to after I've been sick. Saltines if I'm nauseous. Then I add cereal, fruit (not citrus), and chicken. (Rice if I had diarrhea.) Graham crackers are my favorite comfort food when I can't eat anything else (but they don't have much nutritional value). You probably have some comfort foods that you can try in small amounts.

Apples and applesauce have pectin (or something like that) that is good for your stomach, and they seem to be safe whether you have constipation or diarrhea. Yogurt has beneficial ingredients too.

Water, water, water.
