Exclamation Very Important IBS Question

I was diagnosed with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) about 3 months ago

I have a question, Is it normal with IBS to have some blood in the stool?

Just curious because I remember the doctor saying something about blood but I wasn't sure.

And if it happens I don't want to freak out if its part of it. I really don't recall what he said.

I'm just doing research on it and trying to find out what is normal with IBS and what is not.

Thanks

No, blood is not normal. Blood usually looks black by the time it comes out; if you have red stuff it's probably tomatoes or something.

IBS is one of those sortof-normal diseases that a lot of people have. Drug stores have shelves of stuff for IBS people. I usually just drink a lot of water and play it by ear, and I'm ok. Laxatives are addictive.

Blood is serious. You recently had surgery in there? Or a cancer or an inflamation. I'd get it checked out.

Bright red? No I haven't ever had surgery or cancer.
