can it be heartburn

The pain woke me up and the onlybthing that would ease it was to drink cold liquids but it didnt go away. I took zantack and havent really eaten because it feels like somethings there ans causes more.pain its just below the center of my ribs. I get some pain going into my neck and arms but it doesnt last.long. the pain isnt going away. It hurts to drink liquid because it feels like something is in the way. Is this typical heartburn.

Re: can it be heartburn

I don't know your age, but pain in the chest or upper abdomen that radiates into the neck and arms should be considered cardiac until that possibility is ruled out. This doesn't sound like typical heartburn, as Zantac will usually relieve that. This should be checked out immediately with an EKG, blood tests for heart enzymes, possibly a treadmill, and if no cardiac reason for the pain is found, then a gastrointestinal cause should be sought.
