Unhappy increasing pain after Nissen

I was just telling someone I haven't had much pain after my Nissen/fundoplication. Of course, I have been on Lortab and Tramadol. Yesterday marked a week after the surgery. Now I am hurting under my left ribs and in my left shoulder. I did try progressing to a more solid diet yesterday. Is this pain normal or should I call my doc's office?

Re: increasing pain after Nissen

Graduate VERY slowly with the food. I had the same pain - and my dr said it is to be expected. There was a lot "moved around" in there, and it would take weeks for the swelling to subside. I had mine done in 1995 - cured my acid problem but I was never able to vomit again. Ever. And sometimes you just have to. I had food poisoning a few years later and couldn't purge - had to digest all that. It also took me about 5 months to be able to belch - so watch out for anything that makes you gassy. Good luck
