Trying to Decide if Divorce is the Final Answer

After almost 12 years of marriage, I think it's time to call it quits.

My husband, a wonderful man in many respects, told me 6 months after we got married that he was not attracted to me sexually. We tried counseling to no avail. At that point I suppose it was just a matter of time before we had to consider divorce. However, in the following years our daughter was born (ivf) and she became our focus.

Most recently I have found that he has been visiting various escort websites and made two phone calls to women on these sites. He said that it was all innocent - he was just seeing what types of women are on these sites and he doesn't know how one of them ended up calling him. He only called her back to ask how she got his number. Very lame excuse.

It's obvious now that our relationship is beyond repair. I mentioned divorce. He doesn't want to talk about it.

Still it's a hard decision to make. For me and my daughter, our only option is to move back in with my parents, which would be no picnic but there is no other alternative. Staying with him is like a living death - absolutely soul-crushing.

I suppose it is what it is. It is difficult to imagine a scenario where we start to live as man and wife again instead of roommates. That would be the best case outcome but I think I am deluding myself that it would be possible. Hard to decide and yet something needs to be done.

I'm so sorry, honey. As a mom myself I can certainly understand why you would WANT to keep your marriage together. Your husband is obviously a liar and under so many other circumstances I would be the first person to tell you to try therapy to work things out, but in your case I say, get out. Go to your parents. You have your whole life ahead of you to find a man who will love you the way you deserve, and cherish the sexuality that you will share.
