    seizures

My 8 year old nephew with DS has recently started having seizures. He has been on medication which has started to poison his system...making him sleep constantly, vomit, and be in pain. Doctors can't figure out what is causing the seizures and therefore nothing is being done right now to help Lewy. I have read about the ketogenic diet...anyone have any thoughts on the diet or any other ideas or resources I should check? Thanks

    Re: seizures

    Hello,
I just recently joined this website. So, it wasn't until now that I saw your e-mail. It's been a long time since it was posted. I hope your nephew is now doing better. I also wanted to let you know that my 14 yr old sister with DS is going through the same thing. It's been two months since she started having seizures. The doctor prescribed Zonegran and after taking it for a couple of days, she started having the same side effects as your nephew. She wants to stay in bed all day and complains that her stomach hurts. The doctor recently changed her prescription from 100mg to 50mg. I wanted to thank you for posting that e-mail because at least now I know of someone else who is going through or went through the same thing.

    God Bless,
    smejia

    Re: seizures

My brother who is 39 is also experiencing the 'unexplained' seizures. It seems that they are triggered through times of excitement, but yet there are other times that he has seizures when waking up from sleep. The drugs that they have been giving him have not been completely successful, and seem to take the personality right out of my brother. It would be great if someone had the key to this mystery.
