    Venlafaxine HCL ER 37.5 mgs

At what dose did you begin this Venlafaxine? Have you increased your dose since? Length of time on medication? Any other particulars you want to share?

Re: Venlafaxine HCL ER 37.5 mgs

I started Effexor XR in 2000 at 37.5mg, went off it after 6 months. Needed to get back on but had to increase after a few weeks to 75mg.
I did eventually wean off and tried a few other antidepressants, no go and went back to effexor 75mg. The only side effect I can remember is nausea a few hours after taking it....lasted for maybe a week or two each time I went back on it.

What I can add is that Effexor is what works for my brain, but not all generics are the same. I noticed that when my pharmacy changed it from TEVA to Ratio...didn't realise and was hit with increasing symptoms over a few months. I discussed it with my doctor and after more research I got a script for brand name again ( expensive!!!) to see if there was a difference... like night and day. The pharmacy agreed to honour the RX for only Teva/Sanis brand, so that helps with coverage cost-wise. I at least feel "my normal".

Effexor takes the extreme edge off my depression. I do have anxiety as well, and the two work in tandum constantly.
Therapy was a lifesaver for me. I've been asked by other doctors if I want to increase when my depression is increasing....maybe one day if I absolutely need to.

Let us know how you're doing on it.

Quincy, thank you kindly for your reply and input and for sharing what you did. I read it attentively.

I have been on this med for going on two years at 37.5 mg every morning. I am only considering
increasing to 75 mg but holding off right now. It has been helpful for the reason I chose to take it.

Another thing you mentioned that I find interesting is the manufacturer TEVA. In my experiences
with meds and this one, I have preferred TEVA.

Good to hear you are doing decently at this time.

Thank you...hope it continues to work for you. Interesting about your experience with TEVA as well.
