    Nasal blockage?

Today I visited the dentist and after having my x-ray taken and my dentist showed me a picture of my (I believe to be) nasal passage which, he said to be, about 2-3 inches from my face into my head. I believe he said something about it being excess tissue. He said it could have been like that or it could be swelling/getting bigger, blocking (I believe) a nasal passage. I feel like my breathing has changed as well- as if a passage (or something) has swollen or closed. I have felt like this for the past year or so. Also, when I fall asleep I'm consciously breathing through my nose, but I feel like during the night I begin to breathe through my mouth because by morning my throat is really dry. Also, this may be of no relevance whatsoever but I heard I am a very light snorer. Sorry for the poor explanations, I have no clue which medical terms to use.
