    Labrynthitis/Sinusitis - HELP!!!! ANXIETY

I am in desperate need of some advice / help, I feel like I am going crazy!!! A couple of weeks ago, I developed a cold, made me extremely fatigued, took the usual remedies and hoped it would subside. However, I started shivering and shaking a couple of days after the initial cold symptoms had worn off, couldn't get warm and wanted to constantly sleep. Also, felt like I was in a bubble and everything was foggy ?? I attempted to drive to work and ended up having what I can only describe as a panic attack, felt extremely dizzy and disorientated. Went to the Doctors who diagnosed Labrynthitis, went away with some Stemitil and a Nasal Spray. My right ear was sore and inflamed but no antibiotics were prescribed. I called the Doctor and asked for Antibiotics , Doctor advised I was on the verge of needing them ? So I have taken them, don't seem to have done anything at all ?? I am having to walk with a stick when I go out on my own as I am so detached and disorientated, I am petrified of falling over and I feel safer with it. The ground feels bouncy and turning corners sends me nearly to the ground!! Everything tastes strange and my lymph nodes have just started hurting!!!
My question is, is this all Anxiety ? I have had anxiety before and it feels similar but not exactly the same. I am struggling with busy places, driving is a nightmare, I constantly feel on the verge of a panic attack and am working myself up about going back to work.
Any stories / tips people can share would be really appreciated

Re: Labrynthitis/Sinusitis - HELP!!!! ANXIETY, it's not anxiety....although it can exacerbate some symptoms. I truly feel for you!

Have you seen an ENT who is willing to put you through a series of tests? Have you had blood testing for viruses? And have you had an MRI of your head? Push for the MRI, because you have lost many abilities in a short time, and things can happen in conjunction...independent of each other but masked by another.

Have you been on a 10 day taper pf prednisone? Sometimes that will take care of residual and continual inflammation caused by viral invasion. Herpes viruses can affect ears leaving dizziness.

One other possibility is that whatever you had kicked off free floating crystals....asking for an epley maneuver could be of help.

If that doesnt work, setting you up for vestibular therapy can help you regain your footing and functioning.

I have BPPV in right ear since 1966. In 1999, i ended up with a continual sinus and larynx infection and by 2000, it kicked off dizziness 24/7 for almost 3 years. Ended up I had BPPV in both ears, and walking was bouncing like you describe. Messages to the feet dont get there properly from the brain because it's trying to compensate balance in its own way. I asked my GP for a brain MRI to cross off MS or other since it was so far off my usual symptoms. While I did see another specialist, symptoms had abated (only to flare horribly 2 weeks later, but I couldnt get in at that crucial time evennthough he said to come when I got worse again, so I decided to do the Epley myself and ask my GP FOR another round of antibiotics since sinus got worse as well). The combo worked. I do have really off days and attacks that I can treat myself. Nothing tike those 3 years, thankfully.

My point....have proper testing done to eliminate the obvious. Try a fast course of steroid. Ask for vestibular therapy.

Please let us know how you are doing.

It's all a matter of perspective!
