Trouble breathing and smelling- ALL MY LIFE

For as long as I can remember I have had trouble breathing through my nose. I can very rarely breath through both nostrils as the same time and sometimes can't breathe through either. I blow my nose about 50 times a day and I have to blow it extremely hard for it to help to the point I sometimes make my self dizzy doing so and it only helps for 10 minutes or so. Because of all that I have to breathe through my mouth and I wake in the night a lot with a sore throat due to snoring, I sleep with my tongue between my teeth to keep my mouth open so I can breathe properly. I also have a very poor sense of smell and occasionally can't smell anything at all. I have been to the doctors many times about it but nothing they have done has helped an awful lot. When I was young (maybe 10?) I was referred to an ENT (ear, nose and throat) specialist, I had surgery to have my adenoids removed as they thought this was the problem, I have been given various nasal sprays and tablets over the years and most of them do nothing but some decongestant sprays help for maybe 2 hours but I was told to only take it once a day so really what's the point in that. I now haven't been to the doctors in a year or so about it because they can never help me. My question is has anyone got any idea what this could be or does anyone have the same thing or anything similar? Thanks

I'm am female, 22, no known allergies and have no pets.

Have you seen an allergist for allergy testing -skin scratch test? If not, I highly recommend that. If the decongestant sprays work for 2 hours, have you tried taking an oral decongestant which will last longer? Have you been back to the ENT? I suggest these methods also.

And at bedtime, try the Breathe Right nasal strips. They work beautifully!

Have the ENTs looked at your turbinates?
    Do you get migraine headaches?

The first few sentences of your posts I can relate to wholeheartedly. I have severe turbinate hypertrophy. I need to but have never gotten the surgery. Flonase and other sprays do nothing.

I can barely smell and it makes physical activity a chore. As well as being able to go to sleep many days. Walking up stairs has my heart feeling like it's beating out of my chest (and I'm not overweight), working out....anything. It's like doing it all with one nostril closed.
However, many times when I'm working out I can seem to breathe better..during the workout.

Anyway i don't know where you grew up but I grew up around a lot of steel mills and other pollution...as well as pollen trees. There was mold inside the walls of the apartment where I grew up. I believe all of these things played a factor. My turbinates sometimes are totally blocked mainly on one side but the other side acts up as well. And sometimes it seems to go from side to side.

See an ENT and have them check your turbinates.
Also, get a CT scan to check the sinuses.
