Bactrim for ear infection ... the outcome

My fiance was recently prescribed bactrim for a double ear infection. The same day he started having reactions to the medication. After a couple days he went back to the urgent care. I noticed while sitting in the waiting room that the white of his eyes had turned yellow. After testing and an xray he was told to go straight to the emergency room. There we were rushed in and taken care of right away. After more test and an ultrasound My fiance was diagnosed with "drug induced hepatitis" from the bactrim. Normally with this once you quit taking the medication that caused it your levels start to drop back to normal and your liver starts functioning properly. My fiance hasn't taken the medication in almost a week and his levels keep rising. He is now seeing a Gastrointestinal Specialist to see what the next step is. If leveles keep going up he will need a new liver or he may pass....I wish there was something I could do for him. My heart is broken and I'm afraid I am going to lose my best friend. All because of a stupid antibiotic. His family doctor was wondering why the Urgent care doctor prescribed him bactrim for an ear infection. Its so messed up and I am so afraid. Any one else have this reaction to bactrim? What did you do?
